What is a gay test?

An online gay test is usually a set of questions about attraction and personal experiences. People may search for an “am I gay test” or “am I gay quiz” when they want somewhere to begin. A useful questionnaire gives you room to reflect; it cannot reveal a hidden, definitive answer about who you are.

Our questions focus on recent feelings rather than stereotypes about clothing, hobbies, or mannerisms. Your answers do not need to match anyone else’s expectations. You can be curious, questioning, confident in a label, or simply interested in understanding attraction better.

How the free gay test works

  1. Answer 12 questions about the past year. Choose how often you noticed a feeling, or select Not sure, Not applicable, or Skip.
  2. Optionally answer four reflection questions about how your feelings fit together, change over time, and relate to words you choose for yourself.
  3. Read a summary separating romantic and physical / sexual attraction toward men, women, and nonbinary people. Uncertain and skipped answers are shown separately rather than counted as no attraction.

You can revisit answers or start again. Sharing is optional; you can read your results without creating a share card or telling anyone about them.

How accurate is an online gay test?

This original questionnaire has not been validated to determine sexual orientation. Its summary describes the responses you give, which may depend on your experiences and how you interpret each question. It is not the Kinsey Scale, a clinical assessment, or a prediction of future relationships.

For a closer look at what quizzes can and cannot measure, read our guide to gay test accuracy and the Kinsey Scale. No questionnaire can replace your own understanding of your feelings.

Questions you might have before starting

Can a gay test tell me if I am gay?

No. A questionnaire can help you notice feelings, but it cannot establish your sexual orientation. There is no pass, fail, or percentage gay. You can use the summary as a starting point and decide whether any identity word feels useful.

What if I am attracted to more than one gender?

You do not have to choose between gay and straight. Some people find bisexual, pansexual, or queer useful; others prefer no label. This questionnaire asks about men, women, and nonbinary people separately, without choosing an identity for you.

Can I take this gay quiz without dating experience?

Yes. Reflect on feelings you have noticed, rather than relationships you think you should have had. Not sure, Not applicable, and Skip are available. Friendship, admiration, and finding someone good-looking do not automatically mean you want romance or sex with them.

What if romantic and sexual attraction feel different?

Wanting to date someone and feeling physical or sexual attraction need not line up. The summary keeps these experiences separate. Rare or absent attraction is also something you can reflect on without treating it as a problem or forcing a label.

What if my results do not feel right?

Your experience matters more than a quiz summary. Check whether the wording fit your feelings, revisit answers if useful, or leave the result aside. You do not need repeated tests to prove anything, and you do not need to come out because of a result.

Your answers and your next steps

No registration is needed. Questionnaire answers are processed in your current browser session and are not sent to the questionnaire’s servers. The website uses analytics and advertising services, so this does not mean all browsing is untracked. Read our privacy policy before starting if that matters to you.

Afterward, you can take time to reflect, read more, or talk with someone you trust. Our LGBTQ+ resources offer places to continue learning and find support. A quiz result never obliges you to choose a label, change a relationship, or come out.
